How to order a topographic survey in Kazakhstan
GeoProGlobal
Start with the job your topographic plan needs to do: building design, source materials for an architectural planning assignment (APZ), utility routing or route selection. This guide explains the ordering process for sites across Kazakhstan.
1. Prepare the site information
- Site location, boundaries and area.
- Purpose of the plan and requirements from your designer or local architecture authority.
- Existing plans, utility information and coordinate-system requirements.
- Access arrangements, an on-site contact and your preferred schedule.
2. Agree the survey scale
Do you need a plan for APZ, a master plan or a route overview? Built-up sites usually need 1:500 with underground utilities; overview tasks use 1:2000 and smaller. We confirm the scale when we read the brief.
| Scale | Typical use |
|---|---|
| 1:500 | APZ, working drawings, utilities |
| 1:1000 | Pads and master plans of medium detail |
| 1:2000 | Pre-design, route selection |
| 1:5000 – 1:10 000 | Overview, large areas |

3. Agree the scope and schedule
Send the site location and area, survey purpose and brief. We will define the scale, deliverables and schedule based on the region, site access and utility density. Mobilisation and completion dates are set out in the proposal.
4. Arrange site access
Before mobilisation, confirm entry arrangements, survey boundaries and access to utilities with the contractor. Field measurements and plan preparation are separate stages; the schedule should cover both.
5. Check the deliverables
Topographic plan and technical report in DWG (AutoCAD) and PDF. On request — DTM, coordinate catalogue, sections. Hard copy if architecture or expert review asks for it.
If the plan is needed for APZ
Before ordering, ask your designer or local architecture authority to confirm the requirements for your site: scale, coordinate system, utility information and delivery format. Include these requirements in the contractor’s brief. Preparing a topographic plan and filing an APZ application are separate tasks; agree the scope in advance.

Questions about this topic
How is the survey schedule agreed?
We estimate the schedule from the brief, accounting for area, region, terrain, utilities and site access. Crew mobilisation, fieldwork and deliverable preparation are included in the agreed schedule.
In which formats do you deliver the plan?
Standard is DWG and PDF. Per brief we add a DTM, coordinate catalogue and sections. Formats are agreed before mobilisation so architecture and expert review do not bounce the pack.
Which regions do you cover?
We carry out topographic surveys throughout Kazakhstan, including remote sites. Logistics, access conditions and mobilisation dates are agreed for each project.
